Las Vegas Elopement
Las Vegas Elopement
Each year thousands of photographers flock to Las Vegas to attend the Wedding & Portrait Photography International convention and I am always amongst the attendees looking to keep up on all the newest trends and innovations in wedding photography. Last year, while there, I didn’t get a chance to attend the renowned Janna Brown Workshop and regretted it immensely after hearing buzz from other photographers. So, this year I made it a point to be there and it did NOT disappoint!
When you put the vision and artistry of Laura Murray together with the floral designs and stylings of Janna Brown absolute magic happens. Both of these women inspire me beyond measure and created such a beautiful shoot.
The gorgeous Catherine Dong wore a stunning olive dress from Caroline Hannah Bridal that perfectly fit the rugged glory of the vast desert. I wanted to capture the movement of the wind through the dress because it evokes a feeling of boundlessness. The chiseled Jonathan Bullock needed nothing more than a black on black number to stand out amongst this desert landscape and perfectly compliment the whimsy of the bride.
I always say the beauty is in the details with wedding shoots and I loved the simple muted tones of the florals juxtaposed with the soft lilac of the table cloth and the divine stationary design by Julie Ha. Her calligraphy gave a sense of femininity to the wild desert so it really made for a great story. Las Vegas makeup artist Kelly Tull also did an amazing job styling the bride and groom. When you have gorgeous models, you don’t need loads of makeup and she really let their individual beauty do the talking. There’s nothing worse than having a natural landscape and then seeing huge fake lashes on a bride so I loved the fact that she steered clear of that and the end result was breathtaking.
Plain and simple if you get a chance to shoot gorgeous people in the desert directed by Janna Brown and Laura Murray….take it! I also highly encourage desert weddings for couples looking to do something different. Not only is it magnificent in pictures but it really puts the focus on you as a couple as opposed to lots of distracting decorations around you. Grab a few friends and family members and go get hitched in the glory of nature. You won’t be sorry!
