I am enamored with weddings because they are one of the happiest days in a person’s life. I love everything from seeing families coming together to the small details that go into making each wedding unique. But nothing beats being able to capture portraits of a newly married couple sharing their first blissful moments.
Villa Verano Wedding
This beautiful wedding day actually consisted of two ceremonies. The bride and groom held a traditional Indian ceremony in the morning and a Catholic ceremony later in the afternoon. The bride, Kalpana, met her husband-to-be on Match just two days after joining. When they first met a week later, she recalled being ten minutes late and Matt, her date, was nowhere to be found. As she was just about to leave, she saw him waiting for her. Ever since, they’ve lived happily ever after!
The morning ceremony featured a gorgeous white horse dressed in traditional ceremonial garb. Matt rode in on him at the Baraat as Kalpana took it all in and enjoyed watching the festivities from the hiding spot she selected in the kitchen. She recalls watching their two families mingle together as they became one. Her beautiful wedding dress for her second ceremony was long-sleeved with a low-back. She tried on about five dresses from Dreamers and Lovers before picking her design, the Kristen.
The wedding featured an array of bright and cheery colors, and each ceremony had a very different look. Their Hindu wedding featured fun, bold colors while their Catholic wedding had lighted, more muted tones that made for a very romantic setting that afternoon. The couple checked out multiple venues in the Santa Barbara area, on a rather stormy day, before both agreeing that Villa Verano was the best choice. It had beautiful scenery, plenty of space for their guests, and the warm, cozy, family feel the couple was after.
The morning ceremony began with a party and the horse ride to kick off the day’s events. The Hindu ceremony was a fun-filled celebration where the couple encouraged people to dance, talk, and have a wonderful time. The bright colors added to the energy, and colorful parasols were passed around to finish off the look and help shade guests from the warmth of the sun. Later that day, guests gathered again for their Catholic ceremony, which was slow-paced, calm, and truly romantic. The beautiful landscape and perfect amount of flowers completed the second ceremony of the day. It was a low-key gathering that everyone adored as they watched the couple get married in the intimate space of the courtyard.
Their guests traveled from near and far to witness the exquisite ceremonies. Seeing it all come together was admittedly the happiest day of both the bride and groom’s lives. While many of their friends and relatives have returned to their homes far away, everyone who attended the event will always cherish the great lasting memories that resulted. With two ceremonies to tie the knot, Matt and Kalpana will surely never forget their special day!
