Destination weddings are super special for me because I really get to know the family and friends of the wedding couple. I felt especially lucky that I became acquainted with Christina and Geoffrey’s loved ones because they truly were the kindest and funniest people you could meet.

Christina and Geoffrey’s wedding was set at the gorgeous Moon Palace resort in Cancun. Geoffrey frequently quipped that everything was “all inclusive” which became the playful tagline for the wedding.

The wedding festivities started on Thursday when the couple had a welcome party for everyone that arrived. On Friday, my assistant, Tim, and I got to hang out at the pool and chat with Christina and Geoffrey’s family, who traveled from all over the country to join in their special day. I also got to know the bridal party, which was composed of a mix of childhood friends and college pals. What really made this wedding special was the incredibly close bond the bride and groom kept with their college friends.

Friday night was the rehearsal dinner which featured a delicious buffet and five very touching speeches from family and friends. With the weather being so unpredictable in Cancun, the couple had to make a decision to have their reception outside or inside. They decided to take a risk and have it outside since they felt the entire point of the wedding was to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The wedding started off like a princess fairy tale. Christina arrived in a horse-drawn carriage with her dad by her side. It was a magical surprise for everyone at the wedding because the bride had kept her grand entrance a secret. The officiant was Christina and Geoffrey’s good friend, Ashlay Fawley. The bridal party wore a pastel palette which looked beautiful against the blue water and white sandy beach. The couple wowed guests with their choreographed dance to Chris Brown’s Forever and Ginuwine’s Pony. When there was only one hour left before the evening came to a close, a huge downpour of rain erupted from the sky and all the guests ran into a gazebo where the ceremony had taken place. But the guests were not discouraged, they just kept partying it up. The night ended with the bridal party taking a huge joyous jump into the pool. This wedding was truly unforgettable and Tim and I couldn’t be happier for Christina and Geoffrey.
