I am enamored with weddings because they are one of the happiest days in a person’s life. I love everything from seeing families coming together to the small details that go into making each wedding unique. But nothing beats being able to capture portraits of a newly married couple sharing their first blissful moments.
Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Wedding
Courtney and Travis chose the glorious Upper Las Virgenes Canyon for their exquisite wedding ceremony. Set on a 5,600 acre parkland of rolling hills studded with valley oaks, sycamore-lined canyon bottoms and unspoiled landscapes as far as the eye can see, this venue is the perfect space for privacy for you and your guests on your big day. With gorgeous views, broad lawns, majestic oaks, and endlessly charming indoor and outdoor spaces, the locale is at once intimate and expansive.
Courtney knew the venue was perfect the moment they walked through is and was even more impressed by the easy-going couple who ran it. “Our main goal was that we wanted our wedding to be fun and easy-going for all our friends and family, so we knew this venue was the perfect fit for us” said Courtney.
The décor they chose definitely pulled off the rustic and romantic style they were going for that reflected them as a couple. Choosing a color scheme of soft grays, taupes and whites with gold accents helped showcase the natural beauty of the oak trees and greenery throughout the venue instead of overshadowing it.
Freshly made wood-fire style pizzas were baked up by the delicious Wheat and Fire Pizza Catering company and followed by a plethora of sweet treats from ornate donuts to sweet and sour candy belts!
Putting the finishing touch on her romantic look was a gorgeous natural half up hairstyle by Hair Designs by Ashley with flower accents that further brought out Courtney’s blushing bridal glow. She was surrounded by equally glowing bridesmaids wearing whimsical champagne dresses that complimented the bride like a dream.
Not to be outdone, Travis and his groomsmen looked ever-so-dapper in their sharp navy suits while still managing to have a little fun with their look, donning green plant accents in lieu of handkerchiefs and black sunglasses for a too-cool-for-school vibe.
Looking effortlessly picturesque, Courtney wore a seemingly strapless gown accented with detailed beads throughout the lacing which made for a modern yet timeless look. She says she the moment she put it on she could picture herself walking down the aisle in it and that none of the other dresses she tried on even came close to giving her that same special feeling. When she saw the reaction of all her bridesmaids and family it sealed the deal!
After the ceremony, guests headed to the reception area which proved as welcoming as it was stunning. Guests were greeted with fun lawn games such a Croquet and Cornhole, which everyone had a blast participating in while waiting for the happy couple to make their first appearance as husband and wife. A myriad of Victorian-era love seats were scattered throughout the grounds making for an easy going vibe for friends and family enjoying cocktails and catching up. Courtney explained “We really wanted our guests to feel almost as if they had been transported to a far off destination for our wedding. I think that we achieved the style and vibe that we were going for by incorporating vintage furniture, lots of lights strung and hung from the trees, wood tables, and soft flowers and greenery throughout.” The couple also provided vintage and decorative polaroid cameras for guests to take with pictures with and add to their scrapbook.
Once guests were full and energized with sugary treats, they danced the night away to the tunes of the Flash Pants Band which wound up being The couple’s favorite part of the wedding! The band brought the crowd back to the 80’s and 90’s with their eclectic set and then as a hilarious surprise, brought all of the married couples onto the stage to participate in a shake weight contest. There was no lack of dancing at this reception so it made for some great pictures!
Courtney and Travis truly created an event to be remembered. It was the perfect blend of stunning elegance, creative details, and comfortable luxury for their guests. The best weddings happen when both the bride and groom and their friends and family are given a space to be themselves, relax, and just enjoy sharing love for each other and this couple pulled that off without a hitch. Courtney was excited saying “All of our guests said that they felt like they weren’t even in Southern California and how perfect the venue was for our wedding, so I think that we definitely achieved the style and vibe we were going for.” Here’s to wishing them both a lifetime of fun and joyful details!
